Indian model, actress, television personality and former MTV VJ Malaika Arora born on 23rd August 1973 in Mumbai.
Her father Anil Arora is a Punjabi who was in the merchant navy, while her mother Joyce Polycarp is a Malayali. Malaika has a younger sister Amrita Arora, who was a MTV VJ and now an actress.
She did her schooling from Swami Vivekanand School, Collector' Colony in Chembur, Mumbai, where her aunt Grace Polycarp was the Principal of the school.
She completed her secondary education at Swami Vivekanand School in Chembur (Mumbai). Her aunt Grace Polycarp was the principal of the school. She is also an alumnus of the Holy Cross High School Thane where she had studied until ninth grade. She lived in Borla Society, opposite Basant Talkies before starting her modeling career.
Standing 5’6” tall and with her good looks it wasn’t long before modeling assignments came her way.
Malaika Arora who always wanted to be a model since childhood and always loved to be in-front of the camera. She started her modeling career at the age of 17. It was her some photo shots done by lensmen Suresh Natarajan which fell into the hands of Suma Varghese, editor of Society magazine. The first cover back of Society in April '93 set the ball rolling for Malaika. Her potential was soon recognized by MTV and she was offered more prominent roles at Awards Functions and concerts telecast on the television channel.
The model shot to fame as a video jockey for the music channel MTV where she hosted popular shows. She concentrated on her career as a model and TV anchor and soon she was offered with many ad campaign assignments. She rose to an interviewer for MTV India, becoming the most prominent non-movie, non-model female in urban India. MTV India, recognizing her potential, gave her plum roles co-anchoring with Cyrus Broacha the popular program 'Love Line' and 'Style Check'.

She appeared in many advertisements as well as cameos for song and item numbers in Bollywood films. Her first movie for the film "Dil Se" oppposite to Sharuk Khan as item girl for "Chaiyya Chaiyya.." song.
Though she hasn’t taken on any full fledged roles in Bollywood, she has appeared in many Bollywood movies in item numbers like Chaiyya Chaiyya in the film Dil Se, Maahi Ve in Kaante, Kaal Dhamaal in the movie Kaal and many more.
Malaika's best ad campaigns include Pearl Pet, Bare Necessities, Mafatlal, Benzer, Tanishq, Tribhuvandhas Bhimji and De-Beers and numerous others.
Malaika also appeared in the television show Nach Baliye aired on Star One TV channel as one of the 3 judges (the other judges are Shekhar Suman and Amrita Rao) in mid-2005, and she continues as a judge in Nach Baliye 2 being aired in the last quarter of 2006.
Malaika Arora fell in love with actor Arbaaz Khan whom she met during a coffee ad shoot and married him on 12 Dec 1998. Arbaaz Khan is the brother of Salman Khan and Sohail Khan. Together they have a son, Arhaan.on December 12, 1998.
In 2007, she was named as the ‘sexiest mom’ in Bollywood by Maxim magazine. The hot actress was one of the prominent VJ’s of MTV India. She was given prominent roles at Awards Functions and concerts of MTV. Her sister Amrita always appreciates for maintaining her body well post motherhood.
